The Mozartkugel was created in 1890 in Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace. The multi-layered taste of the delicious praline is reminiscent of Mozart's music and thus helped give it its name. Its inventor, a master confectioner from Salzburg, initially called it "Mozart candy".
