Gathering coconut shells: Workers buy dried coconut shells from coconut production facilities in Ben Tre. Stage 2. Coconut shell charcoal tunnel: Put the collected desiccated coconut shells into a dedicated tunnel kiln to turn the coconut shells into coconut shell charcoal (ordinary coconut shell charcoal) with a natural size. Stage 3. Coal grinding: After coming out of the tunnel kiln, the coconut shell charcoal has a large piece shape. This is called the "natural" size of the coconut shell charcoal. Then, coconut shell charcoal is put into the mill to grind the coal into the desired size. Usually in Ben Tre, natural size coconut shell charcoal will be milled into smaller sizes of about 3x6 or 4x8 and are quite uniform in size. After this process, there will be by-products of 4x8, 8x20 coconut shell charcoal and fine powdered coconut shell charcoal. Stage 4. Forming BBQ charcoal: The coal after being milled will be combined with a natural binder and put into a mold and further heated to form BBQ charcoal.
