Growing up on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, Mandheling is known as a coffee that is very consistent when drunk, full of thickness, and complexity of taste. Notes Sumatran Mandheling Coffee Cupping often describes it as spicy (Earthy) and intense with a herbal aroma, has a unique taste of an area in Mandheling that cannot be found in other areas in Indonesia or other coffee growing countries. With enough acidity to energize while drinking it, Mandhelling coffee often exhibits a sweet chocolate and licorice taste. The taste of coffee is well developed due to the rich volcanic soil and tropical climate, although it is not very high.
