Aronia belongs to the family Rosaceases; it is a shrub 2-2.5 m high. Nowadays, the biggest aronia plantations are located in Poland.
Numerous scientific studies showed that aronia berries are the richest source of polyphenolic compounds strong antioxidants. Aronia berries offer extremely high amounts of healthful nutrients and fit the definition of "superfruit". It contains four types of polyphenols: anthocyanins, catechins, phenolic acids and flavonols.
