Primary coal types: thermal (70%) and metallurgical (30%). Indonesia's coal production reached 557 million tons (2022). Coal exports: 436 million tons (2022), valued at USD 38.3 billion. Main export destinations: China (34%), India (28%), and Japan (14%). Coal is Indonesia's leading export commodity.Coal sector supports 3.5 million direct and indirect jobs.
