Asparagus racemosus. Asparagus racemosus (satavar, shatavari, or shatamull, shatawari) is a species of asparagus native from Africa through southern Asia, including the Indian subcontinent, to northern Australia. Properties : Shatavari contains phytoestrogens, which support hormonal and reproductive functions. It also contains steroidal-like saponins, which support estrogen and progesterone. Shatavari also has adaptogenic, galactogogue, rejuvenative, aphrodisiac, and antioxidant properties.
