Ethnobotanical literature indicates use of S. racemosa in treatment of eye disease, skin diseases, ear diseases, liver and bowel complaints, tumors, uterine disorders, spongy and bleeding gums, asthma, fever, snake-bite, gonorrhea and arthritis. There are several medicinal uses of the Lodhra tree (Symplocos racemose). The bark is dried and powdered to prepare Ayurvedic preparations to treat a variety of ailments like oral diseases, gynaecological problems like female infertility, gastrointestinal disorders, and skin diseases.
