Moisture- Less than 12 % in Monsoon, Less than 11% in remaining Seasons
Grain Size- 2.3 to 4.1 mm Diameter
Color- Bold Bright,Shining grains without husk and whole seeds

Admixtures Proportion shall not exceed
a. Dirt- [All extraneous matter other than food grains, non-food grains and seeds)-0.5%
b. Foreign Food Grains All food grains other than variety of dal being examined-0.5%
c. Damaged and touched grains-1.5%m
d. Insect damaged grains- Nil
