Coir or coconut fibre, is a natural fibre extracted from the outer husk of coconut and used in products such as floor mats, doormats, brushes and mattresses. Coir is the fibrous material found between the hard, internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut. Other uses of brown coir (made from ripe coconut) are in upholstery padding, sacking and horticulture. White coir, harvested from unripe coconuts, is used for making finer brushes, string, rope and fishing nets. It has the advantage of not sinking, so can be used in long lengths on deep water without the added weight dragging down and buoys.
Sri Lanka is renowned for the production of brown coir fibre. We at Tropical Green produce mixed fibre with physical properties such as length, colour and texture.

Coir fibre is the major product that is extracted from the coconut husk. Coir fibres have a multitude of different applications and they are available in blocks and bales as well. The coir fibres are generally used in the production of ropes, mats and mattresses. The coir fibres that are extracted from the inner layer of the outer part of the coir husk are used in large scale production of the ropes, mattresses and brushes. Coir fibre is also the main product used in manufacturing the geotextiles. Geotextiles have a wide range of uses. But it is mainly used in limiting the soil erosion. Soil erosion has become one of the most prevalent problems of our society. Although there are various methods for limiting it but the erosion can be successfully kept in check by the use of geotextiles. Moreover, the geotextiles are also used in various types of road works and for surrounding the dams.
Coir needled felt mats are non-woven mats made from 100% coir fibre. The fibre is selected, dried and then weaved in the needle felt machine for required thickness. Then the needle is punched to achieve the desired degree of compaction. The fibre is bonded to form long sheets. Needled felt mats have excellent moisture absorption capacity and water retention characteristics. It is an ideal medium for plant growth. It is also used for lawn development and landscaping. Advantages Environmental Friendly Easy laying Easy rooting for plants Water retention capability

Coco peat brick is also known as coir pith or coir dust, it’s made from coconut husks. Coco peat primarily consists of the coir fiber pith or coir dust which is obtained by processing coconut husk and removing the long fibers. Planet Coco’s peat brick is low in EC and have very low salt content. Our Coco peat is aged and composted for over 18 months and thorough washed. Our one liter brick can be expanded up to 8 liters by adding 2 liters of water. 650 Bricks are a perfect size to handle and it’s the perfect size for home gardeners. Usage Environmentally-friendly & sustainable organic alternative to peat moss. Used in greenhouses, vertical gardens, landscaping & grow bags.
Coco coir husk chips, an organic and natural mulch are made from coconut shells (husk) making them a highly sustainable alternative to other mulch options. The durable coconut fiber husk-chips can withstand inclement weather and break down at a more measured and even rate than other bark chips. High-quality coco coir chips absorb water and retain it, slowly releasing over time. Husks cut into chunks, the coco husk chips allow for better aeration and water flow to plants and are ideal for soilless plants like orchids and as landscaping mulch. Commonly mixed with coco coir growing medium to provide better aeration for plants.
Our Coir Discs is developed using optimum quality coir pith and are specifically used to control the weeds from plant container and landscape plants. It has high water absorption capacity thus water can be saved by reducing evaporation from the soil media. Moreover, the coconut coir pith & coco coir peat Round Discs gives a rehydrated yield of one litre of soil per disk. Coco discs consist of coarse coco material, which is made of the husk of the coconut. Cutting the husk creates an airy, easily manageable and powerful growing medium with good drainage properties. These discs are compressed for transport and expand to their original size after water is added.
The offered coco peat is washed, dried and compressed into 5 kg blocks. It serves as the ideal peat moss alternative in horticulture supplies. Washing controls the electrical conductivity of the block which is important for root and plant growth. We are coco peat block manufacturers offering blocks that can withstand high compaction. As an ideal soil conditioner and a growing medium, coco peat blocks once hydrated will expand to 15 litres per kg. Coco peat 5 kg blocks are 100% soilless growing medium. It can be used for soil conditioning as well as a mulching agent. Features Ability to withstand high compaction force Eco-friendly and user-friendly 100% soil less growing medium

The upholstery business makes extensive use of coir fiber bales, which is a healthy alternative to processed synthetic rubber. And it is also used by the textile industry and for making rope. Coir fiber is often used as a filler for floating islands. A great mulch for landscaping is made from the coir bale used to make mattress coir fiber. When coir rolls are put together, the gaps can be filled with fiber. Because of how similar the two media appear, growing in coco coir resembles growing in soil. A fully hydroponic garden is possible, and it can resemble a soil garden in appearance. The only difference is that you would irrigate your coconut coir garden with water that has been treated with nutrients rather than just plain water. That helps keep the moisture in and offers a favorable environment for growth. Features: The fiber can be used to fill the gaps when coir rolls are joined together. Growing in coco coir feels like growing in soil, because the two media look so similar. You can have a completely hydroponic garden that looks almost the same as a soil garden. The only difference is instead of watering with only water, you'd water your coconut coir garden with nutrient-enriched water. Retains moisture and provides a good environment.
