They are primarily used to carry combination of radial and axial loads, and limit axial displacement of the shaft (or housing) in both directions, so they can be used to locate axially in both directions.
The performance of the type TDO double-row tapered roller bearings is the same as the two single-row tapered roller bearings with back-back arrangement.
