Vases are often decorated, and they are often used to hold cut flowers. Vases come in different sizes to support whatever flower it is holding or keeping in place. Vases generally share a similar shape. The foot or the base may be bulbous, flat, carinate, or another shape. While they are not very traditional, they do provide a very natural and minimalist look. If you opt for a wooden vase, however, make sure that the wood quality is waterproof.

The height and thickness may vary slightly. Each object is unique because of the artisanal realization. Manufactured in the Sarthe near a chestnut forest. An organic, raw but worked form joined by one or several flowers, in a game of balance, combine strength and fragility, heavy and lightness, monochrome and color. The flowers are highlighted. We use for all our products chestnut Sarthois first choice, shaped in a shingle manufacturing workshop in Sarthe. The wood slot is made with traditional hand tools and called on neighborhood which guarantees no deformation in time. On the other hand, the chestnut that is rot-proof does not require any treatment even in the area damp. All our products are natural and local. The black hue is obtained by soaking in a bath that brings out and oxidizes the natural tannin of the wood. Light color by stripping with hydrogen peroxide. Finally, the feet are oiled to protect the wood water and give better color stability over time.

Maldives Lacquer work With intricate designs produced from memory and mainly featured on wood carved objects such as vases and jewelry boxes, Maldivian lacquer works are a wonder to behold. During laajehun, or lacquer work, a piece of wood is sculpted to the desired form. It is then coated, layer upon layer, with lacquer of differing colours. Black, Red and Yellow are the colours most prominently used traditionally green is also sometimes used while gold and silver dust are used to add appeal to select works. Once the lacquer coating is finished it is polished with dry coconut leaves. The design, which is rarely pre-planned yet always exquisite, is then etched by hand.
