Therefore, pH buffer must be added to all neutral electroplating tanks. These buffers, such as boric acid, acetate and other weak acid and weak base salts, usually complete the buffering function because the ionized H+ions migrate to the cathode surface and neutralize the OH- ions increased due to H2 evolution, generating water that is difficult to ionize.
