Vannamei prawns are tropical prawns that are farmed in areas near the equator, generally along the coast in artificial ponds. They are harvested with extreme care, by hand and lowered from the tall palm trees using ropes and pulleys to avoid damaging the precious fruits. In the local Sinhalese (Sri Lankan language), they are called Thambili. The palm fruits have been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. MOQ: 18 MT Supplied from Sri Lanka.
The jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) also known as the jack tree, is a species of tree in the fig, mulberry and breadfruit family (Moraceae). The jackfruit tree is well-suited to tropical lowlands and widely cultivated throughout tropical regions of the world including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the rainforest of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia. It bears the largest fruit of all trees, reaching as much as 55 Kg (120 Pounds) in weight, 90 cm (35 inches) in length and 50 cm (20 inches) in diameter. A mature jackfruit tree produces some 200 fruits per year with older trees bearing up to 500 fruits in a year. The jackfruit is multiple fruit composed of hundreds to thousands of individual flowers, and the fleshy petals of the unripe fruit are eaten. The ripe fruit is sweet (depending on variety) and is commonly used in desserts. Canned green jackfruit has a mild taste and meat-like texture that lends itself to being called "vegetable meat". Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana), also known asthe purple mangosteen, is a tropical evergreen tree with edible fruit native to tropical lands surrounding the Indian Ocean. Its origin is uncertain due to widespread prehistoric cultivation. It grows mainly in Southeast Asia, Southwest India and other tropical areas such as Colombia and Puerto Rico, where the tree has been introduced. In each fruit, the fragrant edible flesh that surrounds each seed is botanically endocarp, i.e., the inner layer of the ovary. The seeds are of similar size and shape to almonds. Mangosteen has been used to treat skin infections and diarrhea. Recent scientific studies suggest that mangosteen possesses strong antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-microbial, and antimalarial properties. Green beans are young, unripe fruits of various cultivars of the common bean, although immature or young pods of the runner bean, yardlong bean, and hyacinth bean are used in a similar way. Green beans are known by many common names, including French beans, string beans, and snap beans or simply snaps." They are distinguished from the many other varieties of beans in that green beans are harvested and consumed with their enclosing pods before the bean seeds inside have fully matured. An analogous practice is the harvest and consumption of unripened pea pods, as is done with snow peas or sugar snap peas. As common food in many countries, green beans are sold fresh, canned, and frozen. They can be eaten raw or steamed, boiled, stir-fried, or baked. They are commonly cooked in other dishes, such as soups, stews, and casseroles. Green beans can be pickled, similarly to cucumbers. MOQ: 10 MT Supplied from Kenya, India, Vietnam, China, or Indonesia.
The snow pea is an edible-pod pea with flat pods and thin pod walls. It is eaten whole, with both the seeds and the pod, while still unripened. Snow peas are a crunchy and delicious vegetable. While they can be eaten raw, they take just minutes to cook. The name "snow peas" may come from the vegetable's ability to withstand frost. They're generally planted no earlier in the spring than other pea varieties, and some gardeners keep them growing through autumn. Another theory behind the name refers to its white appearance in bright light. Snow peas can be grown in open fields during cool seasons and can thus be cultivated during winter and spring seasons. Storage of the pea with films of polymethyl pentene at a temperature of 5 C and a concentration of oxygen and carbon dioxide of 5 kPa augments the shelf life, and internal and external characteristics of the plant.
