The fruit of the Rambutan tree is usually bright red though there are also orange and yellow varieties. Rambut means hair in IndoMalay and the fruit could be described as a golf-ball sized red fruit covered in green Velcro fibers. Breaking open the skin reveals a fleshy translucent or whitish fruit containing a large seed. The fruit is sweet with a mildly acidic flavor. The best Rambutan are said to come from Surat Thani province where they were first planted in 1926. Rambutan is easily canned and thus available throughout the world in a sweet syrup. The Apricot is a fruit originating from the North of China. It has a rounded shape and its size is somewhat smaller than that of a peach. The color of its skin is yellow-orange with reddish hues. Its flesh is juicy and its flavor is sweet. It is one of the fruits richest in carotenes, especially in beta-carotenes, with Pro Vitamin A activity and which helps in the prevention of cataracts, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. In Spain there are producing areas Huelva, Asturias, Cáceres and the Maresme area in Barcelona. Raspberries have a conical or round shape. Small in size (its base is between 15 and 20 millimeters in diameter). It is formed by many granites of velvety textured balls grouped very close to each other. The color of the Raspberry varies depending on the particular variety. Its texture is soft. The pulp is juicy and has a bittersweet taste. It is very aromatic. Blackcurrant is a berry of translucent pulp with red or green tones and bittersweet taste. The fruit is small, of black-blue color and spherical shape, with an intense taste when completely ripe. This berry is covered with hair and its pulp contains multiple small seeds. These fruits are not loose; they grow in clusters. The Blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum, belonging to the botanical family of Saxigfragaceae) is the shrub where currants grow. In English its name means â??berry of gooseâ?? because long ago it was the main ingredient of a sauce that went together with goose dishes. Blackcurrant is used to make liquors, wine, juice and jelly. Blackcurrants are extremely rich in sugars, organic acids and vitamin C. The quantity of vitamin C in 250 ml of currants is three times superior to that contained in a small orange. Blackcurrants are excellent laxatives. They must be consumed in a short time, otherwise, they will spoil. In the fridge, at 4ºC of temperature, they last for one week. The output is used in the food industry that uses Blackcurrants for processing syrups, jelly and refreshing drinks. A characteristic liquor is made by means of macerating them in brandy and adding syrup. They are also used in chemists to improve flavors and as a source of food coloring. The Blueberry is a fruit that grows wild in fresh areas of the N hemisphere. It is a bluish-black, rounded berry measuring 6mm of diameter. It is mainly consumed in jams, cakes or as garnish for various dishes. It is rich in vitamins and it supplies very few calories. The Blueberry pulp is aromatic, juicy and somewhat acid. It contains multiple small brown seeds. In the upper part, this fruit has a small crown that differentiates it from the black currant. Cranberries were so important to early settlers, laws were passed in some areas to prevent wild bogs from being picked illegally. Cranberries are commonly planted from cuttings, not seeds. Cranberry vines donâ??t need to be replanted. They can continue producing indefinitely. Cranberries grow on an evergreen vine â?? that means they keep their leaves year round, but the leaves actually turn deep burgundy during the plantâ??s dormant cycle. The Kiwi is a fruit of ovoid shape, of variable size and covered by a thin, brown, slightly hairy skin. It may be 4 to 7.5cm long, and 3.5 to 5cm wide. The weight ranges from 30 to150g, according to variety, climatic conditions, and the culture system. The pulp may be of different green tonalities according to the variety. It is also tender, juicy and bittersweet in flavor. It presents numerous small, edible black seeds. The color of the pulp and the delicate flavor, somehow reminiscent of the grape, strawberry, and pineapple, make Kiwifruit very pleasant. Kiwi is consumed as fresh fruit, in fruit salads, salads or as garnish for different dishes. In order to consume it as fruit, it can be peeled or cut in half and eaten with a spoon. It contains an enzyme called actinidine that degrades proteins, reason why this fruit is used to soften the meat before cooking and thus reduce to the time for baking, rubbing the pulp of the fruit.
