4.0 Material
4.1 Granular Aluminium Sulphate shall consist of freely flowing , white to cream granules,
which are free of finely powered material, foreign objects and objectionable odorous.
4.2 Size:
Granular Aluminium Sulphate shall be of such size that:-
100 % shall pass through US # 4 Sieve (4.75mm mesh) Not more than 5%shall pass through
US# 30 Sieve (0.6 mesh size) None shall pass through US#45 Sieve (0.355mm mesh size)
4.3 CONTENTS OF ALUMINIUM:
Granular Aluminium Sulphate Shall contain water soluble Aluminium of not less than 9.0% as
Aluminium or 17.0% as AL2 O3.
4.4 Impurities:
The Aluminium Sulphate supplied shall contain no soluble minerals or organic substances in
quantities capable of producing deleterious or injurious effects on public health or water
quality.
4.5 Iron
The total water soluble iron (expressed as Fe2O3) content of Aluminium Sulphate shall be no
more than 0.75% on a basis of AL2 O3 in dry Aluminium Sulphate.
5.0 Sampling
5.1 Sampling point
Samples of Aluminium Sulphate from each shipment shall be taken at the location, where the
majority of the material will be stored such as Navet Waterworks.
