Gracilaria is a genus of red algae (Rhodophyta) notable for its economic importance as an agarophyte, as well as its use as a food for humans and various species of shellfish. Various species within the genus are cultivated among Asia, South America, Africa and Oceania. Gracilaria is used as a food in Japanese, Hawaiian, and Filipino cuisine. In Japanese cuisine, it is called ogonori or ogo. In the Philippines, it is called gulaman or guraman.
Ulva lactuca is also known as sea lettuce. Seaweeds taste more primo when harvested early in the spring growing season far away from possible pollutants. They can then be integrated into recipes either fresh or dried. Harvested Ulva blades should be completely grass green in color. Merely rinse them in fresh water to remove the strong salty taste and it is ready to mix into a salad or whatever - a fine addition and enhancement to a meal.
Eucheuma Seaweed is significance for human health and function greatly, it can be found widely in Malaysia, the middle of Vietnam. Its Latin name is Caulerpa lentillifera for the purists. It is one of the favored species of edible Caulerpa due to its soft and succulent texture.
