Capsicum is the scientific name of the more commonly know Bell Pepper. The popular vegetable can be found in red, green, yellow, orange, white, purple-brown and lime green. Green and red come from the same plant, however yellow, orange, white and purple are different varieties. Red, orange, yellow and green Bell Pepper are readily available. White, purple-brown and lime green Bell Pepper have a more limited supply. Bell Peppers are sweet and juicy with a mild spicy flavor. Red, being riper, are sweeter than green Bell Pepper.
