Tempered Glass. Laminated Glass, Insulated Glass And Fire Rated Glass.
Tempered glass (also known as Toughened glass) is a type of safety glass processed by uniform heat treatment to increase its mechanical strength and thermal impact strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the interior into tension.Such stresses cause the glass, if fractured, to shatter into small, relatively harmless granular chunks. All fabrication, such as cutting to overall dimensions, edgework, drilled holes, notching, grinding, sandblasting, and etching, shall be performed prior to tempering. After the glass has been tempered, it shall not be modifified except as recommended by the fabricator.
