Steel Billet, also called bar stock, is technically a semi-finished casting product that needs further processing before becoming a finished material. Actually, since billet is grained in its structure as a metal it processes very intricately. Steel Billet is, in fact, a length of metal with a square or round cross-section. It is used in general and structural purposes. Pipes and wires are 2 of the main products made with billets. Billets are also used as raw materials or feedstock in forging, rolling and other metal-processing operations. The range of semi-finished products above 155 mm x 155 mm is called blooms. Blooms have rectangular cross-sections. The name Bloom comes from Bloomery. Another condition for a bloom is that the cross-section must be greater than 36 sq. inches. In different countries, rebar is produced based on different standards, and in each standard, there is a definite classification in relation to the mechanical properties of steel. Most of the steel mills production complies with the Russian standard which is divided into three types of A-1, A-2 and A-3 steel. The A-1 grade is of a flat type. The yield strength and tensile strength (rupture stress) are 2400 and 3600 kg / cm2, respectively. The A-2 grade is of an indented bar type with the yield strength of 3400 and a tensile strength of 5000 kg/cm2. The A-3 grade is also of an indented bar type with a yield tolerance of 4000 and a tensile strength of 6000 kg/cm2. Because of the bright future of the universal requirement for DRI briquette over the next two decades, a new method was created in 2009 in Iran to produce a cold briquette of CDRI (Patent No. IR60923). Cold-Briquetted Sponge Iron (CBSI) was the name given to the new product. Afterward, following pilot-scale and performing various laboratory studies, Cold-Briquetted Iron and Carbon (CBIC) was invented in Iran as a premium product over CBSI because of the prior�¢??s higher carbon content sand higher efficiency through processes of steelmaking (Patent No. IR84090). Owing to the fact that the cold-briquetting process of DRI is being done under high pressures, the density and mechanical strength of CBIC should be higher and the surface area and also porosity should be less than DRI�¢??s. thus, the oxidation rate, dust and fine generation rate, and the moisture adsorption capacity of DRI will considerably decrease through the process of cold briquetting. These improvements would have big technical, economic and environmental effects on direct reduction and industries steel manufacturing and will push them heading for more sustainability
