BASIL Basil is a herb used in cuisines globally that comes from the mint family and has wide varieties, including sweet basil, Thai basil, and purple basil. The plant has alternating leaves with dark seeds and pointed flowers and provides culinary needs. Basil is known as Ocicum basilicum scientifically.
