Spaghetti Squash belongs to the C Pepo Species To Cook : Merely cut the fruit in half (from stem side to flower side), place cut sideâ??s down on a lightly greased baking tray and bake in the oven for about 45 mins to an hour at 180 degrees Celsius. When the skin start to turn brown and almost looks like itâ??s boiling you know its cooked. A few black burnt spots wont hurt anyone either. Take the spaghetti like strands from the cooked squash with a fork and serve just like spaghetti with your favourite sauce, as is or with butter and sugar. A good keeper, store up to 4 months. We think the secret is in the crunch and the mild flavours that blend so well with just about anything. Can also be boiled with carrot and mashed, or boiled and mashed with butter. The greens are also delicious and can be cooked similarly to kale. Rutabaga is a cool-weather crop that is best planted in late summer for an autumn harvest, or in autumn for a winter harvest in milder winter climates. If planted in spring, they tend to bolt as soon as the daytime temperatures increase. Swede is one of the easiest vegetables to grow and is well-suited to the novice gardener. Itâ??s an excellent winter vegetable which crops over a long periods and is best left in the ground until mild-winter. The Swede also known as (Rutabaga) have a very rich, mellow taste than its relative the turnip and will go brilliantly with those autumn meals.
