Norwegian salmon has become the most popular fish in the world. The worldâ??s first successfully bred salmon was placed in a corral in a Norwegian fjord outside Trondheim in 1970, by brothers Ove and Sivert Gr¸ntvedt. Australia accounts for more than half of the world's Atlantic salmon market, according to the FAO. Australia exports salmon to more than 100 countries around the world, more than 1 million tons in 2019, representing 14 million Norwegian salmon meals consumed every day.
