The Passiflora edulis also known as passion fruit or Gulupa, it is native to southern Brazil, Paraguay, and northern Argentina. In Colombia, it is found in the regions of Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Tolima, and Huila, between 1,400 and 2,300 masl, with temperature ranges between 15 and 20ºC.
Has an oval or round shape, is between 4 and 10 cm in diameter, juicy and with fiber. Its skin is thick and inedible. Its pulp contains many small seeds along with a yellow, orange or greenish substance.
This exotic fruit makes it a great fruit to maintain insulin levels for diabetics, reduces muscular and headaches due to its properties.
