The periotome is used to sever the periodontal ligament (PDL) from the root surface of the tooth. The blade must be angled approximately 20 degrees out from the root to ensure the tip of the periotome is within the crest of the alveolar bone and to prevent the blade from slipping.
Flexible Periotomes Easily use for dentist No breakable & root extractors Immediate implant placement into a socket, following extraction, is a well-established dental procedure. It provides efficient service to the patient, it allows for the avoidance of a second surgery, and it prevents bone loss during the healing period that can be caused by conventional implant placement. However, this procedure is not without its challenges, one of which being the removal of the tooth with minimal trauma to the surrounding bone. To assist in this periotomes are used to expand the bone around the tooth and create mobility. Unfortunately, they have their issues, the main ones being that their shape often doesn’t correspond to the tooth’s root shape and their high propensity to break. 1.5 kg
