An rto contains a ceramic heat exchanger bed that is utilized for the preheating and cooling of the waste gases before the gases enter and exit the combustion chamber, respectively.

The raw materials of this ceramic monoliths(also called multi-channel bricks) are stoneware or cordierite or mullite and ceramics. Its shapes can be of rectangular, cylinder and ellipse. For the rectangular multi-channel bricks, the size is 150*150*50~300mm.
