Melt Flow Index Tester indicates the uniformity of the flow rate of the polymer. This instrument measures the rate of extrusion of Molten resins through a drill of specified Length and diameter under prescribed conditions of temperature, load, and piston position. This test method covers measurement of rate of extrusion of molten resins through a die having bore diameter of 2.095 mm and a specified length of 8 mm within a stipulated time. Accordingly the unit of MFI is reported in grams/10 minutes. There are different test conditions based on the standard chart for Temperature Vs Fixed load for checking such melt index.
