OP - Orange Pekoe A whole leaf, well twisted tea. A delicate brew that varies in taste according to the different districts of Sri Lanka.
Orange Pekoe is the main grade and consists of long wiry leaves without tips. This grade is further classified into OP1 (more delicate than OP) Many researchers have proved that consuming Assam tea in the right dosage each day can reduce the risk of heart attack by 50%. The active ingredients in this tea play an important role in reducing the risk of high blood pressure, prevent blood clots and keeps blood vessels relaxed. Assam tea is known for its body, briskness, malty flavour, and strong, bright colour.

OP Tea, which is Orange Pekoe Tea in full, is a grade of tea that has larger leaves compared to other Ceylon black tea grades. It is made of less wiry, but well twisted larger tea leaf. OP tea has a forest-like scent. The liquor generally has a light golden reddish color with a delicate lighter taste. Mostly it is preferred by tasters who prefer a lighter liquor. This tea takes slightly longer time to brew compared to other teas due its leafiness. OP tea also has two other varieties named OP1 and OPA. The largest variety is Ceylon OPA Tea. The thinner and wiry variation is Ceylon OP1 Tea.
