First of all, the high purity of deionised water is one of its core advantages. In the electroplating process, even a trace of impurity ions in the water may lead to defects in the plating layer, poor bonding, porosity and other problems. For example, calcium and magnesium ions in the water will form precipitation in the plating solution, affecting the plating effect; chloride ions will corrode the metal surface, reducing the corrosion resistance of the plating layer. Therefore, high-purity deionised water can reduce the introduction of impurities in the plating process, thus improving the uniformity and adhesion of the plating layer.
Secondly, the technical means of deionised water equipment is also the key to achieving high purity. Common plating plant deionised water equipment using a combination of reverse osmosis, ion exchange, electrodeionisation (EDI) and other technologies. Reverse osmosis technology uses the characteristics of semi-permeable membranes to remove most of the ions, ion exchange resin removes the remaining ions in the water through adsorption and exchange, and EDI further removes trace ions in the water in depth to ensure that the effluent water quality reaches a very high purity.
Finally, the specific benefits of using deionised water include: providing a high purity water source to meet the water quality requirements of the plating process; reducing the introduction of impurities in the plating process to improve the uniformity and adhesion of the plating layer; controlling the pH value and conductivity of the water to ensure the stability and consistency of the plating solution; and reducing the generation of wastewater during the plating process. The result is to achieve environmental protection and energy saving.
