EverFlon fluorinated lubricant powder is a soft material of low molecular weight that is applied to form a dry lubricating film under light contact pressure. When this contact pressure continues between the two mating surfaces, either of which contains EverFlon powder, the transfer of the fluoropolymer lubricant to the opposite surface occurs. This results in the formation of a micro-thin lubricating film, which has excellent anti-friction properties.
EverFlon MV1 is a fragile PTFE powder that can be broken down into submicron particles by high shear mixing in a liquid medium. The degree of particle size reduction depends largely on the degree of shear.
For example, mixing MV1 with a medium viscosity lubricant and then passing the mixture twice through a three-roll grinder yields a sub-micron size range, with many particles measuring 0.3 microns in size.
MV1 is particularly suitable for inks added to can coatings as well as oils, greases and elastomers Medium.
