Hastelloy S is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of aggressive media. It was developed by Haynes International, Inc. and is specifically designed for use in highly oxidizing environments. Hastelloy S offers superior resistance to oxidizing and reducing environments, including hot sulfuric acid, sulfurous acid compounds, and hydrogen chloride gas. It also exhibits excellent resistance to localized corrosion, such as pitting and crevice corrosion, and has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
