The difference between ductile iron and gray iron
1. Different chemical composition
Nodular cast iron contains nodular graphite, which can improve its toughness and strength, while reducing brittleness. Gray cast iron contains a lot of carbon, so that its hardness and wear resistance is high, but the toughness is poor.
2. Different organizational structures
The structure of nodular cast iron contains nodular and ferrite, and the distribution of nodular is uniform. While the structure of gray cast iron is mainly ferrite and pearlite, and the distribution of pearlite is uneven.
3. Different performance
Ductile iron has high strength and toughness, and has good corrosion resistance. It is uitable for the manufacture of high load and high pressure parts. The hardness and wear resistance of gray cast iron are high. It is suitable for the manufacture of friction and wear parts.
Application field
Cast iron : because of its low strength and good vibration resistance. It is often used in the production of parts under compressive stress, such as box, base, etc.
Ductile iron : because of its high strength and good toughness. It is often used in the manufacture of parts requiring high strength and toughness, such as crankshaft, connecting rod and so on.

We can produce centrifugal ductile iron pipe from DN80 to DN1600 in accordance with GB/T113295, ISO2531, EN598 and EN545 standard. The connector type includes: T type, K type, N type and S type etc. The annual output is about 50000 tons.
The centrifugal ductile cast iron pipe is mainly used to transport water, oil and gas. The outstanding features of the nodular cast iron pipe are the following:
1: The centrifugal ductile iron pipe not only has the ductility, high strength and pressure-proof of steel but also has the corrosion resistance of grey cast iron.
2: The excellent mechanical property of the centrifugal nodular cast iron pipe (elongation>=10%, tensile strength>=420Mpa, pressure-proof >=4Mpa) accords with the requirements of high pressure-proof and resistance to deformation for the pipe used to transport water, gas and oil.
3: The ductile cast iron pipe has stable chemical properties. Plus anti-corrosion methods of zinc spraying and paint coasting, it has excellent anti-corrosion performance so that its service life is over 100 years.
4: The installation for centrifugal ductile iron pipe is convenient and quick and the construction cost is cheap.
5: High reliability. The centrifugal nodular cast iron pipe has high pressure-proof performance, good elongation as well as flexible joints. Medium leakage wont come up even the axial direction deviates 3 or 5 degree. It has better quakeproof performance and base anti-sinking ability.

These cast iron skulls are a by-product derived from the cast iron foundries. The byproduct is a ferrous by-product which can be utilised in an electric arc furnace to produce crude steel.
