It is continuously welded using appropriate shielding gases for each alloy to prevent oxidation of the seam. Product Information 4J36-Invar is a duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel with relatively low contents of alloying elements. The grade has high mechanical strength, similar to that of other duplex grades. Its good corrosion resistance is on par with that of most standard stainless steel grades. Combined, these properties can be utilized to optimise design with respect to strength, maintenance, durability and long-term cost efficiency. 4J36-Invar is a 21.5% chromium, 5% manganese, 1.5% nickel, 0.45% molybdenum lean duplex stainless steel with corrosion resistance superior to 304L and comparable to 316L. 4J36-Invar possesses both superior strength and greater chloride stress-corrosion cracking resistance than conventional 300 series stainless steels.
