The neutralizer of Carbo 940 can be sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, potassium bicarbonate, borax, amino acids, polar organic amines such as triethanolamine. Laurylamine and stearylamine can be used as neutralizers in non-polar systems. The neutralized carbomer hydrogel is the most viscous between pH 6-11, such as pH12, the viscosity will decrease, and the presence of strong electrolytes can also reduce the viscosity. The gel is unstable, and it is easy to grow mold and lose viscosity when exposed to the sun. Adding antioxidants can slow down the reaction.
How to use Kabo 940 (acrylic resin) and matters needing attention:
1.pH value: The optimum pH value range of Carbo 940 system is 4-10, higher or lower than this range will lead to changes in system viscosity.
2.Components that are not easily compatible in the formula: protein, PVP resin, polyethylene glycol (PEG), polyethoxylated surfactant will interact with unneutralized Carbo 940, so it needs to be partially neutralized before adding Capo 940.
