Bentonite Mat

Introduction
Bentonite Mat are consisting of three different layers supported by geotextiles and/or geomembranes, mechanically held together by needling, stitching, or chemical adhesives. A Bentonite Mat construction would consist of two layers of Bentonite Mat stitched together enclosing a layer of natural or processed sodium bentonite. The engineering function of a Bentonite Mat is containment as a hydraulic barrier to water, leachate or other liquids and sometimes gases.


Typical Applications Includes
Ponds and stormwater impoundments: Bentonite Mat are widely implied in sewage reservoir, storage ponds, and regular reservoir. The Bentonite Mat does not require specialized machine nor skilled workers, which makes it a great material for ecological pool protection.
Landfill liner : Bentonite Mat can replace the clay layer of geosynthetic membrane compound system, offering less systematic leakage rate. For a better result,combining with geosynthetic membrane is recommended. By doing so, when the geomembrane is compromised, the Bentonite Mat can still work for its purpose.
Anti-leakage of gas or oil depot:Due to the ease of application and great toughness, it is the most economic and reliable choice of leakage protection for oil or gas depot.
Landfill cap: Using the Bentonite Mat are widely adopted in different countries, for the damage and crack effect of uneven subsidence, desiccations, and dampness are drastically less than ordinary clay layer. Hence, the Bentonite Mat are extraordinary suitable for landfill cap.
Underground project waterproofing: The protruding thin fibers of Bentonite Mat surface can lodge in concrete and served as an anchor. When the subsidence occurs, the small anchors would prevent the Bentonite Mat and structure from forming a water intrusion interface.
