Di-2-ethylhexyl terephthalate (DOTP) is a general purpose plasticizer that is considered safer than ortho-phthalate plasticizers due to its excellent toxicological profile. It has uses in applications like extrusion, calendaring, injection molding, rotational molding, dip molding, slush molding and coating. As well as its uses in the plastics industry it is also commonly used in the paints and varnishes industry. DOTP is used in a number of other processes and products including the manufacture of high-temperature cables, automotive plastic parts and leatherette. It is extensively used in paper finishing in the calendaring process.

DOTP has good electrical and thermal resistance. It can replace DOP in PVC plastic electric wire sheath, and can also be used in the production of artificial leather film. In addition, it has excellent compatibility and can also be used for plasticization of acry lonitril derivatives, polyvinyl butyral, nitrile rubber, nitr cellulose, and the like.And it plays a role in improving the hardness and deformability of the product, and can be used as a softener in products such as nitrile rubber, neoprene rubber, EPDM rubber and the like. It is especially used in cable materials with good plasticizing effect and low volatility. It is widely used in various products requiring heat resistance and high insulation. It is an ideal plasticizing for producing temperature-resistant 70C cable materials and other volatile PVC products Agent.
