This coffee bean is cultivated in the Ulu Belu â?? Tanggamus area on the island
of Sumatra, Lampung Province, with the type of variety, namely Robusta
coffee. This plant has a shallow root system and grows into a tree up to 10
meters high. Robusta coffee leaves are oval in shape with a tapered tip.
Leaves grow on stems, branches and twigs. On the stem and branches the
leaves grow alternately, while on the twigs the leaves grow in the same
plane. In terms of size, Robusta coffee cherries are smaller than Arabica.
When young, the skin of the fruit is green and turns red when ripe. Ripe fruit
remains firmly attached to the stem, does not fall off like arabica. The shape of the seeds tends to be rounded and smaller in size than arabica.
Robusta coffee grows at an altitude of 700-1000 meters above sea level with
an average temperature needed for this plant around 26°C with 2000-3000
mm of rainfall per year. This plant grows well in soils that have an acidity
(pH) of about 5-6.5. Robusta growth usually begins with the growth of
flowers in the axils of the primary branches. In each armpit there are 3-4
groups of flowers that bloom in the dry season.
Robusta coffee is grown and cared for with high dedication from local
farmers, starting from planting, harvesting to processing robusta coffee beans carried out professionally. The first thing that can be done in processing robusta coffee is by sorting the coffee beans by hand pick. Coffee beans are selected according to standards and are not defective, as well as sorting by cleaning them from twigs, leaves and others.

Furthermore, RDP (Robusta Dry Process) processing is carried out, which is the process of processing coffee without going through the stage of peeling
the skin of the coffee fruit. Stripping is done directly by drying the coffee
cherries to be exposed to the hot sun. Drying is done with a 10 cm thick base. Drying like this must be turned over frequently so that the coffee cherries dry evenly.
Because it depends on sunlight, this RDP processing takes a long time and a large area. Drying time can last up to 15 days.
