Ladoo or Laddu are sweets molded into a ball shape and are often served as a part of festivities or religious occasions in the Indian household. Traditionally it is cooked using chickpea gram or semolina flour, fat (ghee/butter/oil), and sugar, with other ingredients that vary by recipe, like chopped nuts or dried raisins.

How to Make Ladoos
Transfer a portion of the mix in a pan or a microwave-safe bowl
Heat the portion on a low flame or microwave for 10-20 seconds
Once warm, transfer a small portion on your palm and roll a fist full of powder into round circular balls (can apply oil on palms if too dry but not needed)
Eat immediately or transfer into a airtight container

Chilla is a savory spiced pancake that is usually cooked by mixing chickpea (gram) flour, herbs and vegetables. It is a popular breakfast item in Indian households and a good alternative to omelets for vegetarians.
Given our love for oats, we gave this recipe a twist by substituting chickpea with Oats flour and shredded sweet potatoes making it a rich source of energy and fiber. This incredibly nutritious and tasty mix avoids bloating commonly caused by chickpea flour and improves digestion.
Lets Get Cooking
Add 2-3 tbsp of water or buttermilk to 1/4 cup of mix to prepare one pancake
Heat a pan
Pour the portion onto the pan and add 1/2 tbsp. of oil around the edges
Option to add onions, tomatoes and green chilies in the mix or on top of pancake

Bharwa in English means to fill. This particular recipe is inspired from my mother-in-law's Sindhi kitchen. The best part of being married in a cultural community different than my own was that I was suddenly being introduced to these unique and new combinations of existing spices to prepare signature dishes. One such spice mix that left me wanting for more is the blending of roasted chickpea flour with traditional whole spices to prepare a filling for sliced eggplants, okra, potato etc.. Each time I visit India, my MIL bids me farewell with a jar of this mix as a parting gift.
