In the Preangerstelsel system that was enforced during Vereenidge Oost Indische (VOC) era, West Java became one of the main plantations and also the first sector that its main produce was coffee. The reason why VOC chose to plant coffee in West Java was because the altitude was ideal to produce the best quality coffee beans.
