ORTHOSYN FIBER SUTURE
The braid structure developed for the purposes of the orthopedic surgery increases the performance and transportation characteristics of the suture. Thus, a flexible and easy-to-use orthopedic surgical suture that provides higher tensile strength than Polyester and polyblend sutures has been obtained.
Orthosyn Fiber suture provides resistance to tighter knot and knot tear during bonding. The low knot profile of the seam allows precise knot placement and a smooth bond.
The Orthosyn Fiber® suture is made from incredibly strong and durable ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) material.
Indications: Orthosyn Fiber suture is used for soft tissue approximation and / or adhesion, including allograft tissue use.

Arthroscopic reconstructive surgery poses many challanges for the surgeon. One of these is the tying of arthroscopic knots. To achieve reliable, reproducible knots every time requires a lot of practice and skill. Some surgeons prefer knotless devices for many reasons.
Knots are extremely strong and reliable. Well tied knots are strong enough to withstand tendon and bone forces. Arthroscopic knots are the same as those used by climbers and sailors, so knot security is not a concern in the experts hands. Knots are versatile and can be used in any suture repair situation, such as margin convergence for cuff repair or with suture anchors.
Possible disadvantages of knots are a theroretical risk of tissue irritation, potential postoperative joint clicking from large knots and surgeons knot-tying skill. For consistent knot-tying a surgeon must be well practiced in tying knots on models before doing so on patients.
Knotless anchors have the advantage of avoiding the problems above and potentially reducing surgical time as well.
Orthosyn MRY knotless anchors designed for use during arthroscopic and mini open surgery and reconstruction procedures.

ORTHOSYN SUTURE PASSER are single use instruments packaged sterile. Each type has various curved tip configurations for arthroscopic Bankart, SLAP & rotator cuff repairs. ORTHOSYN SUTURE PASSER has a 2.3 mm outer diameter tip and comes preloaded with a nitinol wire loop of suture used to shuttle suture through soft tissue. ORTHOSYN SUTURE PASSER can also be loaded with a monofilament suture for shuttling or with #2 Fiber suture to pass a stitch when using the ORTHOSYN MRY KNOTLESS ANCHORS eliminating the shuttle step.
The sharp tip and small diameter shaft will easily penetrate soft tissue while the reinforced shaft resists bending. After the tip is passed through soft tissue, the loop is deployed and retrieved through a cannula with a Crochet Hook or Suture Retriever. A suture strand or suture tail from a previously placed suture anchor is placed in the loop, and the opposite end of the loop is pulled, delivering the suture through tissue and out the cannula.
