Global grain market: wheat continued to grow on Thursday, corn and soybeans fell in price
On Thursday, January 25, 2024, Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) wheat futures rose for the second day in a row. At the end of the trading day, March quotes for soft winter wheat on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange CBOT rose to - $224.96 per ton, March hard winter wheat futures KCBT in Kansas City - up to $234.05 per ton, March hard spring wheat futures MGEX in Minneapolis - to $260.51 per ton.
On Thursday, wheat futures rose after a choppy session, while U.S. soybean futures fell 1.4%, weighed down by weak U.S. oilseed export demand amid strong competition from Brazilian supplies and lower soybean oil costs. Corn futures fell, following soybeans.
March CBOT soybeans fell 17-1/4 cents to $12.23 a bushel and March soybean oil fell 0.79 cents, or 1.7%, to 46.53 cents a pound. .
