Davana Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the overground parts of the flowering herb, Artemisia Pallens wall. The plant grows in the same parts of southern India where also sandalwood is grown. Davana Oil is very dark green or brownish green in color. Its odor is sharp, penetrating, bitter green, foliage like and powerfully herbaceous with a sweet balsamic, tenacious backnote. aving botanical name Artemisia Pallens, Davana Oil offered has its origin in India and is a brownish colored liquid with Tea like Fruity Odor. Being insoluble in water, it has Specific Gravity of 0.9394 – 0.9560 @ 20°C, Optical Rotation of +32° to +60°(25º C), Refractive Index of 1,4810 – 1,4917 (20ºC) and Flash Point of 94° C. With major constituents being Davan-Ether, Davanone, Davana Furane and linalool, the oil is extracted using steam distillation process from flowering tops of Davana which is a small plant. With the oil having wide usage in perfumery industry, it blends well with most essential oils and has long history in aromatherapy applications. The oil also is a good aphrodisiac and as agent to combat anxiety. The oil is also regarded as being anti-infectious, soothing for dry rough skin as well as stimulating to endocrine system of body. 1
