This is an annual crop cultivated largely in India. Psyllium is mucilage having a combination of xylose, aucubin, galacturonic, arabinose, semi drying fatty oils. It is derived from bent layers extracted from dried ripe seeds of plantago ovata frosk. Psyllium consists of 80% water soluble fiber.
