Silica fume, also known as microsilica, is a byproduct of the production of silicon and ferrosilicon alloys. It is an ultrafine powder consisting of spherical particles, typically about 100 times smaller than the average cement particle. This fine powder is rich in silicon dioxide (SiO) and is highly reactive when mixed with cement, making it a valuable additive in construction materials.
Features of Silica fume:

This product reacts chemically with the calcium hydroxide in the cement paste which yields a calcium silicate hydrate gel that significantly enhances strength and durability. The super fine microsilica fills the voids between cement particles creating a very dense, less permeable concrete.
