Product Description: Steel teeth Bits 114-117, 127 Soft Formation Tooth Bits The 114-117 bits are used to drill low-compressive strength, soft formation. Long projection tooth lengths are used on high offset cones to provide the greatest penetration rates possible. Wear-resistant hard facing is used to control tooth wear. On the softest bits type this hard facing completely covers the bit teeth. 127 Medium-Hard Formation Tooth Bits The 127 bits are used to drill high-compressive strength, medium hard formations. Short projection teeth with reduced crest length are used in this series of bit designs. Durable hard facing is applied to reduce tooth wear. Medium hard with high compressive strength and hard streak (hard shale ,sandstone , limestone, etc.) 437 Soft Formation TCI Tricone Bits The 437 TCI bits are used to drill low compressive strength, very soft formations. Number of Cutters - The number of cutters placed on a hole opener is governed by the following facts: 1.Maximum number which will fit around the perimeter. 2.The greater the number of cutters, the less the weight, which therefore reduces the penetration rate. 3.In softer formations, less weight is needed to penetrate. 4.The greater the number of cutters, the smoother the tool will run. 5.The greater the number of cutters, the greater the cost. 6.The greater the number of cutters, the longer the cutters will last Rotary Speed - Maximum speed is determined by the manufacturer's recommendation and the calculation to account for the linear distance the cutter is moving per revolution.
