Basmati is a variety of long, slender grain aromatic rice which is traditionally from India. In 2014, India supplied 65 percent of the overseas basmati rice market.It is remarkably long for rice grain, and becomes longer after cooked. It can either be brown or white with the brown variety having more flavour. It has a natural aroma which is also found in Cheese and Fruits. It is a flavoring agent approved in the United States and Europe, and is used in bakery products for aroma. Basmati rice is grown only in Northern India.
