Maca or Lepidium meyenii walp is native of the Central Andes of Peru, growing at 4,000 m.a.s.l. The useful part is the root which is 4-5cm in diameter and 5-8cm long. Maca has a high quantity of carbohydrates and vitamins like for example, Niacine. This is the reason why the Maca is nutritious and hormone regulating. It helps to combat stress and it is energizing as well as having fertility properties. Traditionally, Maca is used in food, juices, liqueurs and other preparations. Also, since the Inca times, it is used as an aphrodisiac, fertilizing, revitalizing, anti-arthritis and for nutritional value, too.
