Lakadong variety (grade A) is considered to be one of the finest varieties of turmeric in the world, with naturally high cur cumin content. A minimum of 5.50% and maximum of 7.40% is recorded by the indian council of agricultural research (icar). The agro–climatic conditions prevailing in the states (regions) - assam, arunachal pradesh, meghalaya, mizoram, manipur, nagaland & tripura (also known as the seven sister states of north eastern part of india in the himalayan range) has been naturally “blessed” for the cultivation of this variety. This fact has been experimented and proven by scientist and scientific organizations for many years.
