As the property of raw water is different, experiment for the optimum dosage and conditions previous to operation is necessary so as to obtain the best effect. 1. Determination of the consistency. Before using, dissolve the product in running water in the proportion of 10-30 so as to make it hydrolyze completely. Laying it to present red brown solution, then dilute it to the consistency required for coagulation. It is usually diluted to the consistency of 2-5 in waterworks, and 5-10 in the industry waste water 2. Determination of the optimum dosage. In view of the different property of raw water, it can be determined by the experiment. For the waterworks, you may refer the dosage of other flocculant operated before. Under the same conditions, its dosage is almost equal to the Polymer Aluminium Chloride, 1/3-1/4 of the solid Aluminium sulphate. For the liquids product, you may calculate its dosage according to its consistency. 3. Pump the medicament compounded into the measure trough. When operated, add it into the raw water to coagulate with the raw water 4. It is usually compounded when operated in the running water. It is normal to have a little precipitate in it. Pay attention to the waterpower condition and the state of alum flower in the course of coagulation; Coacervation stage: The medicament flows into the coagulation pool, where it coagulates rapidly with the raw water and forms tiny alum flowers within very short time, at the same time, the water becomes even more turbid. A sharp rushing water is necessary in this stage. For the beaker test, mix for 10-30S in the speed of 250-300r/min, normally not exceed 2 mins. Flocculation stage: It is a process that tiny alum flowers grow longer and bigger. It is necessary for the water to have a suitable rushing water and sufficient velention period (10-15mins). In the later period of this stage, a large quantity of alum flowers gather and subside slowly. For the beaker test, mix for 6 mins in the speed of 150-200min, then 60r/min for 4 mins, to present a suspended state. Subsidence stage: It is a process that the flocculate subsides in the subsidence tank, where a slow current velocity is necessary. To improve the water quality, the subsidence tanks are usually designed in the oblique tube or oblique board model, (it is best to separate the flocculate by the fªgas-floating) method), so that a large quantity of thick alum flowers are stopped by the tube or board wall and subside at the bottom of the tank. The upper layer is clear liquor. In the meantime, the alum flowers with small size and density subside slowly and continue colliding to grow large. In the later period, the turbidity id almost fixed. For the breaker test, mix for 5 mins in the speed of 20-30 r/min ,then subside for 10mins and check the turbidity . 6. Strengthen the filtering: Choosing the reasonable filtering layer structure and filtration aid, is the important measure to improve the water quality. 7. For the treatment of industry waste water , on the whole it is similar to the waterworks. Cooperated with other coagulant aid, it will achive a optimum effect in the treatment of raw water with high colour, COD and BOD. 8. For the factories and mines employing the chemical coagulation method, the product can also be used by adding a dissolving pool only. 9. The product can be preserved in the place for a long time, where is dry, damproof and heatproof(normally below 80 f¦).And be sure not to damage the package. 10.
