LCD Panels An LCD panel, or Liquid Crystal Display panel, is a flat-panel display technology that uses liquid crystals sandwiched between two layers of glass or plastic. The liquid crystals can be manipulated to control the passage of light, allowing for creating images on the display. Structure: LCD panels typically consist of several layers. These layers include a backlight source (such as LEDs), a rear polarizer, glass substrates with electrodes, liquid crystal molecules, color filters, and a front polarizer. The arrangement and properties of these layers determine the display's characteristics. Operation: When an electric current is applied to the liquid crystal molecules, they align in a way that allows light to pass through or block it, creating pixels. The combination of red, green, and blue pixels produces a full spectrum of colors. Backlighting: Most LCD panels use a backlight source to illuminate the display. Early LCDs used cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs), but modern LCDs often use light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for backlighting due to their energy efficiency and longer lifespan.
