Coconut shell charcoal is the by-product of pyrolysis process which involves burning coconut shells in a limited supply of oxygen in order to carbonize it first. After that, coconut shell charcoal is crushed into powder and mixed with adhesive to manufacture different shapes and size of charcoal briquettes.

One of the main functions of Coconut Charcoal Briquette is for shisha or hookah burner - for which the briquettes are made into small cubes and discs. People also use the lower grade for barbecue purposes - for which the briquettes are made into pillow shape, spheroid, square cylinders or hexagonal cylinders.
